I am new to the area/school, do you have a brochure with basic information?

When does registration start for the new school year?

Registration starts in January. We do reserve spaces for returning students & church members before opening registration to the general public. For more information on fees & tuition, please see our About Us page.

Where can I find information on the pre-school classes you hold? What type of programs do you offer?

We offer programs for children 2.5 years old through Pre-K. For more information please see our About Us page. We also offer several interactive resource programs.

What type of Activities does EWS Offer? Is there an online calendar for school related events posted online?

EWS offers several school wide activities for students and families. Please view our School Activities page and our School Calendar for more information, or contact us by phone or email.

What is the policy for Bad Weather?

Our voice mail is updated as close to 7:00am as possible (703-780-3852). However, please pay attention to the television and radio. Our cancellations and delays are based on Fairfax County Public Schools. Please see our School Activities page for more details.

Where can I learn more about the Early Morning, Lunch Bunch and Extended Day??

These additional programs are listed in detail on the About Us page. Please note, parents are required to provide their child with a lunch for all afternoon extended programs.

What type of Information or Documentation do you require/keep on file?

State law mandates us to keep certain information on every child. See our About Us page for the full list.

Do I need to provide my child a snack for the school day?

No, snack is provided by the school as a service to the parents and children. All children are offered juice or water and a small snack (i.e. cheese, crackers, raisins or cut up fruit slices. We try to have snack around 10:30 and keep it light and healthy so as not too interfere with lunch.

May I bring in a special snack for my child's birthday?

Yes, we prefer to keep them simple as not to distract too much from the school day, but a special snack brought from home for a birthday celebration for all your child's friends in his/her class is more then acceptable. Please always prearrange birthday or other special snacks with your child's teacher.

What do I do if my child is going to be late or absent?

Please call the school office as soon as possible to notify the staff. For saftey purposes, all classroom doors are locked at 9:10am. We ask that all late arrivals enter through the office. For contact information, please see our Contact Us page.

What are Friday folders?

Friday folders, your child brings home a folder every Friday. These folders contain important notices regarding the school, the classroom and often art work your child has made during the week. The empty folder is then returned at the begining of the following week.

Does my child need a backpack? How about a change of clothes?

Yes, please provide a clearly labeled backpack with child's first and last name along with seasonal appropriate change of clothes, socks and underwear for your child on a daily basis. The 2-year-olds also need to have diapers/pull-ups and wipes as well.
